I wanted to share just a few key tips about being effective as a Social Internet Marketer.
Your profile is your most valuable piece of "Real Estate" in an online community so you want to make it very inviting.
Imagine that you are a small boutique in a big mall surrounded by Macy's and Nordstrom. You must make your "store" compelling to bring people in.
Here are a few things you must do –
1. Get a picture uploaded. This is a must and no exceptions. People will begin to know, like and trust you when they can SEE you. After all, it's all they have to begin with online. If you don't have a digital camera, ask around. Use your cell phone camera and then email the picture to yourself if nothing else. You can upload that once it is saved to your hard drive.
2. Use your First and Last Name. This is part of branding yourself and developing your online presence. When you create a username, always try to use your first and last name. Yes, you may be motheroftwo, but that won't do anything for you online! Be YOU!
3. Make your profile about more than just your business. Who are you as a person? What are your interests? Do you travel? What do you do for fun? Business will come once the relationship is better established!
4. Get involved in discussions and get noticed. You have more to offer than you might think.
5. Start a group of your own. It doesn’t have to be business. Do you read? Start an online reading group. Homeschool? Garden? You get the idea.
6. Use keywords and tags. This gets spidered on the web and can generate traffic.
7. Always take the higher road and don't bash; start arguments; or talk badly about another company or person. It reflects negatively on you above all!
8. Have fun! Network! Offer Value! Pay it Forward!
EXPECT Success!
